In fact, noise is the #2 reason home owner associations sue behind moisture and mold. Traditional construction methods such as Resilient channel construction, is now known to be highly susceptible to short-circuit failure. Up to 90% of walls built with RC channels fail immediately or within two years. QuietRock soundproof drywall achieves totally reliable Sound Transmission Class ratings. Double stud construction has often been used for achieving high STC ratings but imposes a dead-space penalty. QuietRock achieves the same or higher STCs with simple single-stud construction, thus recapturing valuable sellable floor space (up to 3 – 5% sellable space per unit), reducing labor, structural load, materials and construction time. The extra 30-50 square feet of sellable space (at $125-$300 per square foot) results in an immediate return on investment that far exceeds the cost of the materials.
