Quiet Solution Introduces New QuietPad Floor Underlayment for Concrete Construction

SUNNYVALE, CA - Quiet Solution, the market and technology leader in soundproof drywall, today announced its new QuietPad 420 floor underlayment for impact noise reduction in high-rise concrete construction. The new product provides superior performance to other popular rubber and cork underlayments at significantly lower cost.

The highly-engineered underlayment delivers IIC ratings up to 61 - a very high reduction in the amount of 'impact' noise heard in units below. The new QuietPad is only 1/16" thick, is affixed directly to the concrete subfloor and allows attachment of wood or tile directly on top, without an extra layer in-between. The thin underlayment replaces competitive products that are often 1/4" thick or more, providing a large advantage to builders that want to make best use of every inch. QuietPad has a Robinson floor test rating of light commercial, and is designed for wood or tile flooring.

SUNNYVALE, CA - Quiet Solution, the market and technology leader in soundproof drywall, today announced that its revolutionary QuietHome(R) sound-damped floor/ceiling assembly has been awarded UL assembly number L591. This makes it immediately usable in a wide range of commercial and residential applications requiring stringent fire ratings, such as multi-family construction and high-end single family homes wanting high performance soundproofing solutions.

The QuietHome assembly delivers superb noise reduction, with an STC rating up to 65 and an IIC rating up to 70. The STC rating is a measure of sound transmission through the assembly, and the IIC measures how much 'impact' noise is heard in the unit below. These assemblies are particularly good at reducing notoriously challenging high heel footfall noise,' with results 20-30db better than conventional assemblies. Overall, these new assemblies deliver a very significant performance improvement of 5-8 IIC points and 8-9 STC points versus conventional poured gypsum concrete assemblies. This can reduce impact noise by half, and airborne noise by two-thirds.

Serious Materials Receives $50 Million in Funding to Reduce the Impact of Building Materials on Climate Change

Sunnyvale, CA, November 1, 2007 - Serious Materials today announced that it has closed $50 million in additional investment, led by New Enterprise Associates (NEA) and Foundation Capital, along with Rustic Canyon Partners. Serious Materials develops and manufactures sustainable green building materials that considerably reduce the impact of the 'built environment' on the climate.

The investment will be used to build state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities for EcoRock(tm), which will go into production in 2008, ThermaProof(tm) high-insulating windows (2008), and to expand the company's successful Quiet(R) product line. The new product, QuietRock DensArmor Plus 528, combines the moisture and mold resistance, fire resistance, abuse resistance and low indoor air emissions of paperless DensArmor Plus wallboard, with the proven noise reduction of QuietRock, the leading soundproof drywall.

A single layer of the new product on a single wood stud wall provides an STC rating of 50 - a noise reduction of 75% compared to many other interior wall systems. QuietRock DensArmor Plus 528 is a 5/8" thick, Type X, UL-classified, contains no metal inside the panel, and installs in the same manner as standard drywall.
